Google to recruit 20 localization managers in China

Google (GOOG) China is trying to recruit more product managers in China who are familiar with the local market in order to solve its problem of localization.

Local media report that Google China requires that the candidates for the position of product managers not only have a strong background in the Internet field in China, but also a deep understanding of Chinese users' demands as well as proven record in satisfying these needs in a creative way. Google China has promised a competitive salary and benefits for the new product managers though it has not disclosed the detailed amount of salary it is planning to pay them.

Google China recruited more than 100 engineers from the China market in 2006 and will recruit more than 20 product managers in the first half of this year alone.

According to different Internet polls, Google still lags behind Baidu.com in search engine reach in China. Meanwhile, companies like Sohu.com, Alibaba.com, and Accoona.cn are also vying for top spots in China's search engine wars.
