Work environment and company culture are important job determinants for sales professionals in China

A supportive work environment, healthy company culture and promising career opportunities - These are important job determinants for sales professionals in China as concluded by Maximum, a global talent market communications and employer branding company in a landmark talent market study.

In an ongoing talent market studies that spans across 3 major Chinese cities – Shanghai, Beijing & Guangzhou – Maximum found sales professionals in Shanghai’s financial sector feel that work environment and company culture play an equally important role as monetary benefits in retaining them in their company. Many sales professionals will switch employers due to a bad work environment. Other findings indicate that even though most sales professionals feel that foreign companies offer better career prospects, sales professionals would still prefer to work for a local boss.

Said Emile Mac Gillavry, Managing Director, Maximum China, “China’s unprecedented economic growth has attracted many foreign companies and investors. They have increasingly recognized the importance of attracting the right talent and developing their human capital as key to a company’s long-term success. Hence, with a better understanding of the Chinese talent market, Maximum will strive to help its clients developing more effective recruitment and talent management programs.”

Headquartered in The Netherlands, Maximum specializes in talent recruitment and employer branding strategies. With the opening of its new office in Shanghai, Maximum plans to expand the Chinese talent market study to cover different job functions in 7 industries –IT, Technical, Telecommunications, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Accountancy, Financial & Medical. This study will allow companies operating in China gain a deeper insight into the Chinese talent market as well as job orientation and job seeking behaviour. A detailed report on the Chinese talent market study will be released by Maximum in September 2007.
